Welcome to the Arkansas Building Authority website.
Arkansas Building Authority, formerly named Arkansas State Building Services, was created by Act 716 of 1975 and came into existence on
July 1, 1975. ABA is guided and governed by the Arkansas Building Authority Council. The ABA Council consists of eleven (11)
members whose duties are to set policies, guidelines, standards and procedures, which are implemented by ABA personnel. The culmination
of these policies and guidelines are set forth in the ABA Minimum
Standards and Criteria. The act authorizes ABA to obtain sites; to construct, equip, maintain and operate public buildings; to
authorize the leasing of property for and by state agencies; to assist state agencies in architectural and engineering needs; and to
assist other state agencies in the construction and maintenance of public buildings. State agencies include agencies, boards, commissions
and certain institutions of higher learning. Records regarding most of these transactions are kept and maintained by ABA. ABA maintains
a database of state owned property and of leasing transactions that are within the purview of the Real Estate Services Section. Databases
regarding on-going capital improvement projects are maintained by the applicable sections.
